Speculation On Why Rusev Was Added To U.S. Title Match

On this past epispde of Smackdown Live, Rusev pinned Orton and was added to the U.S. Title Match. Many fans wile happy have wondered, why? Its being said that the main reason is due to the fact that WrestleMania had three Triple Threat matches, with the US, Intercontinental and SmackDown Tag Team Championships all being defended in Triple Threats.

It’s being said according to Bill Bhatti of Dirtysheets.net that one other superstar was considered for the match. That superstar was Baron Corbin, however WWE officials opted for Rusev. It’ being said that due to his merchandise sales and crowd reaction is why he was chosen over Corbin.

It’s also worth noting Bhatti says Rusev was a front runner to win the Andre Battle Royal.

My Thoughts:

This makes alot of logical sense and is something I can buy. Vince traditionally doesn’t like alot of gimmicks or multiple gimmick matches on his WrestleMania card. It’s possible that one of the triple threat matches ends up on the preshow, so it’ possible the Usos, New Day and Bludgeon Brothers miss the main card, again.
