Wrestlemania Notes, Women’s Battle Royal

On Wrestling Observer Live (subscribe here). Bryan Alvarez says that WWE is considering not only a Men’s Battle royal for the event (Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal), but also a Women’s Battle Royal.

Here is what he said (h/t to Wrestlingnews.cofor the quote):

“But they have now been discussing a men’s and women’s battle royal at WrestleMania. So I guess one would be in the preshow, one on the main show. The show’s gonna be 6 hours long. We’ve got a lot of multi-person matches. The gimmick is to get as many people on the WrestleMania card as possible.”

Would make sense as a way to get all the Women’s talent on the card this year. Alvarez says that it also fits with WWE’s recent booking of the same matches for both men and women.

As always, take rumors with a grain of salt. How would you feel about the idea of a Men’s and Women’s Battle Royal on the show this year?

My Thoughts:

I am so incredibly behind this idea. Instead of a 6 woman tag added or multiple 4 way title matches, let’s have a battle royal. Also let’s have it mean something, maybe a future title match? This could be an incredible opportunity to give that someone who may need a little extra push a shot to take the next step. Obviously it won’t be a 30 person like the Rumble however could be 15 and showcase an NXT Talent or two as a one off.  Also could be an exciting way to debut a new superstar then have them speak for the first time on Raw or Smackdown after WrestleMania.
