CheapShots: Dear Smarks, Women Who Support Roman Reigns ARE Real Wrestling Fans

Dear Smarks,

I am a female wrestling fan, no, it doesn’t mean I watch wrestling because of the hot, sweaty, guys. I have been watching WWE since I was six years old and the Mega Powers exploding was the worst thing I thought could happen in WWF.

I know this is hard for some of you guys to understand, but women do like wrestling for the athletics. We can recognize talent just as well as the guys. We appreciate good promos skills and will call someone out when they stink at them. We also appreciate and support the Women’s Division for their athletics.

Since I didn’t elaborate on my reasons for liking Roman in our first conversation, I’ll tell you why.

1. He’s good looking. Yeah, I’ll say it. I’m a reasonably straight female and appreciate seeing a guy that looks like that on my TV every week. You can’t sit there and tell me that at least part of the reason you like Alexa Bliss or Sasha Banks isn’t because they’re extremely attractive.
2. He’s a good athlete. You can deride his ring skills all you want, but you can’t deny that Roman is a great athlete.
3. He can cut a good promo. When Vince lets him be himself, Roman’s promos are great to listen to.
4. He has a good sense of humor: Maybe it’s not the ‘haha’ of Cena, but it is very funny.

Not good enough for you? Too bad. I’m willing to bet that if I were to ask you why you like Alexa Bliss or Sasha Banks, your answers wouldn’t be much better and likewise if I asked about male superstars you support. Except for the good looking part….maybe.

Seriously, though, guys, we don’t want to fight with you about this every day, it’s tiring and all of us have better things to do. All we want is for you to accept that women are just as valid as wrestling fans, whoever they support, as you are and for the same reasons. If you have no problem talking about what you would do with Alexa, Charlotte, Carmella, or Sasha if you had the chance, you shouldn’t be shaming women for like whoever the hell they want for whatever reason they want. Let’s be adults here instead of pretending that wrestling is the exclusive property of men.
