Scott Steiner/IMPACT Teleconference: Talks Dream Matches, Career Mistakes
Scott Steiner took part in a recent teleconference to promote Impact Wrestling’s next PPV Redemption, scheduled for this tonight and his Tag Team Title Match with Eli Drake against the champions LAX. Steiner used to wrestle for WWE for a short while from 2003-2004, as well as in the early 90’s with his brother Rick. During the teleconference, Steiner discussed many topics such as who he wanted to work with in WWE and what he regrets the most in his career.
On the topic of who he wanted to work with in WWE, Steiner claims that when he arrived in 2003, they asked him who he wanted to work with and he chose The Rock.
“When I first came up to WWE in 2003 they asked me who I wanted to wrestle and I said, I wanna go against The Rock.” Unfortunately he didn’t get what he wanted. “At the time, he was the best they had, and unfortunately, that didn’t turn out and I got stuck with a frickin idiot.”
When Scott was asked about what his dream match was, he mentioned The Rock again, along with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Even though he has wrestled Austin before in WCW, it was before the Stone Cold gimmick. Steiner says that both Stone Cold and The Rock have cool characters and they could’ve done great things together.
‘Big Poppa Pump’ also talked about what he could’ve done differently in his career, saying regrets not going to WWE earlier in 1993. Apparently at the time he was going to jail or thought he was, as well as everyone else. He stated that this was the worst mistake of his pro wrestling career and it was at this moment he caught first glimpses of Vince McMahon being a “liar”.
