Since the Greatest Royal Rumble was announced for Saudi Arabia and it came to light women wouldn’t be wrestling. it has been mired in controversy. Fans have questioned WWE’s decision to hold an event in a country that wouldn’t allow women’s wrestling. Even going as far as to say it is “killing the women’s revolution”.

HHH even made comments on this situation as we reported earlier this week. It appears however that the view from people in Saudi Arabia maybe different from ours. While some fans believe that this is a bad look for WWE, fans in Saudi Arabia believe this is helping for a culture change. Our own Greg Demarco posted this open letter on Twitter with a quote.

This is an open letter from a person whom lives in Saudi Arabia. Some quotes from the open letter; “The country is changing. The culture is changing A LOT in the last two years, and it’s all because of our young Prince that what’s to give the wheel to a younger generation to shale our society the way they want, which I had no concerts, no movie theaters, no comic con, no entertainment events of any kind, and No wrestling shows that are advertised publically because of our countries reputation. But now, WE HAVE ALL OF THOSE! And many of those even don’t segregate men and women. I personally didn’t even think for a second this day will come while I’m alive.”

The open letter would go on to say:

“Women will wrestle in Saudi Arabia one day but we have to be patient. Saudi Arabia is changing but it takes time. If WWE decided to not hold this show in Saudi Arabia, it won’t help. Atleast holding it (with the flaws present) gives us hope, and takes us in the right direction”.

This certainly makes me think about this on another level. I can’t begin to actually understand how this person feels while typing this. Hopefully it opens some eyes and allows another perspective, one who actually lives in the culture everyday.
