Don Callis and Scott D’Amore recently spoke with Pro Wrestling Illustrated for an interview on wanting to get more people talking about Impact Wrestling. Below are some highlights from the interview:

Wanting fans to he buzzing about Impact by the end of the year:

Don Callis spoke about their being two that they are looking at. One is the incremental path which the small victories for example eliminating all of the negative and stupid stuff. “Let’s  inject some logic. Let’s slowly build a talent roster.” Callis also went onto say that they are breaking paradigms of wrestling with compelling storylines and an open environment feel with other promotions. Callis believes by doing this will make them cool and have fans buzzing about them like they do about NJPW by the fall.  “It may not happen that quickly, but by the fall, by the end of the year, we both want real buzz around Impact Wrestling.” Callis thinks the company is on this path.

Looking at logical booking used by NJPW and ECW in the 90’s:

Callis praised NJPW for their booking and how we could all learn from them. Callis said it’s a simple formula where they just put their best wrestlers in a match and they have great chemistry. “I think everyone could learn something from New Japan. If you look at what New Japan does, it’s a fairly simple formula.” Don also praised the one and only Paul Heyman for his work in ECW back in it’s heyday. He said that he has learned a lot from Heyman. What he learned from Paul is that you put talent in situations where they can succeed that situations where they fail.

Don Callis and Scott D’Amore also told Pro Wrestling Illustrated that they are talking about bringing in new talent that would fit the style of Impact Wrestling. You can read the full article here.
