Impact News: WWE Plug Reportedly Gives Impact’s GWN App Major Boost

If you didn’t catch this week’s new episode of Table For 3 on the WWE Network, the show featured Shane McMahon, AJ Styles and Kurt Angle. Styles and Angle spoke about their time in TNA, more specifically the classic matches that they faced off in, featuring highlights of said matches. The program also featured advertising for Impact Wrestling’s Global Wrestling Network app, which is similar to the WWE Network, housing loads of TNA and Impact Wrestling content.

According to a new report by WrestleZone, the promotion for the GWN app via Table For 3 has given it a major boost. The app was ranked as the 669th free sports app on iOS devices, but has now peaked tonight at the 101st spot and is still rising. It’s being said that this is the highest the GWN app has ever been, previously coming in at number 130 the night after the Redemption pay-per-view.

EA’s Take: If you feed the machine, you’re going to eat as well and that’s what is taking place here. We’re going to see more cross-promotion on an upcoming Hardy Boyz DVD, but there’s not really any quantitative way to keep track of how that may affect GWN’s numbers. If it continues to work out for big brother (WWE), then there’s clearly no reason why little brother (Impact) won’t continue to play ball when it comes to letting them use footage.
