Japan News: Io Shirai Confirms Her STARDOM Departure

After it was reported yesterday by Tokyo Sports that STARDOM’s Io Shirai would soon be leaving the promotion to sign with the WWE (which you can find here), we have more indication of that today. Shirai posted in a blog that she would be leaving STARDOM (PWInsider reports her final date will be June 17th), which you can see a rough translation of below:

“I’m going to leave Stardom with me aiming for a further leap of pro-wrestling life in the future. Stardom Korakuen Hall Competition on 17th June will be the last match as a member.

For me who has grown with Stardom, Stardom is my life itself.

In order to leave the origin of such a favorite Stadium, I will do more efforts now so that I can regret the pro wrestling life in the future without regret.

Not only accepted the choice of withdrawal but also thanks to Rossi Ogawa, president and stardom fellows, who are willing to send them out pleasantly, I am grateful.”

Shirai had reportedly been offered a WWE contract last year at the same time as now-NXT Superstar Kairi Sane, however she failed her medical evaluation after a neck issue and rumored heart issue were both discovered.
