WWE Backlash Results: SmackDown Women’s Championship

Following Big Cass’ vicious beat-down of Daniel Bryan, it was time to get back into championship mode as Charlotte Flair looked to regain the SmackDown Women’s Title from Carmella. It was all about mind games early on for ‘The Princess of Staten Island’, but the challenger was onto it right away, turning the champion into her tackling dummy. One mistake led to Carmella scoring with a superkick on the outside, allowing her to ground Charlotte for a long period of time using a rear chinlock. ‘The Queen’ eventually picked up the pace and the offense, even powering out of the Code Of Silence. Charlotte would head up top for a moonsault, landing on her feet after the champion avoided it, but tweaking her knee in the process. ‘The Princess of Staten Island’ would see the opening, delivering a kick to the knee and stacking Flair up to pickup the victory.
