WWE News: CM Punk/Colt Cabana Lawsuit Set To Begin Trial Today

When it was revealed recently that the date for trial in the lawsuit from WWE Doctor Chris Amann against former Superstar CM Punk and Colt Cabana would be May 21st, the belief was that due to Punk’s upcoming 225 bout on June 9th, the trial would be moved back. That is of course what happened just over a week ago (which you can find here) and the thought was that things would not commence until after that June 9th date. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case today.

PWInsider is reporting that the trial is slated to begin today in a Cook County, Illinois courthouse. To recap, Punk appeared on Colt Cabana’s The Art Of Wrestling Podcast following his less than amicable WWE departure in 2014. Punk alleged that Dr. Chris Amann had not treated him properly for multiple injuries, including a concussion, plus a MRSA staph infection on his back that was labeled as a “fat deposit” and not removed after multiple requests.

Cabana is being sued by Amann for what the WWE Doctor claims he “helped Punk falsely depict him”. Meanwhile, Punk has maintained the lawsuit is Amann working alongside with WWE for “revenge” purposes.

EA’s Take: This is just two petulant children here and I feel like Cabana’s really getting the short-end of the stick. Almost like he’s the adult watching the kids throw sand at each other saying, “Come on guys, are we done yet?”. We all know how Punk holds a grudge, so there’s no chance he’s ever going to retract his statements about Amann, even if they are untrue. Personally, I feel like this…can we just put this to bed already? It’s been nearly four years!
