WWE News: Post-Backlash RAW Sees Viewership Drop Across All Hours

It’s no secret that Sunday’s WWE Backlash pay-per-view was not well received by the WWE Universe. While matches like Seth Rollins vs. The Miz and AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (until the finish) were the shining moments of the event, the rest of the card was viewed as poor. This seems to have had an affect on last night’s post-Backlash edition of Monday Night RAW from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

The viewership numbers are now in and compared to the go-home episode of RAW prior to Backlash last week, everything is down across the board, earning the red brand its lowest number of 2018.

Hour One: 2.788 million
Hour Two: 2.731 million
Hour Three: 2.549 million

Here is how that stacks up against last Monday:

Hour One: 3.136 million
Hour Two: 3.184 million
Hour Three: 2.878 million

EA’s Take: This is no surprise at all to me, WWE is trying to help out these “secondary” PPVs like Backlash by making them dual-branded, but that effort on Sunday was just plain lousy. Funny thing is, the best match of the show was the one with the most obvious outcome in Rollins vs. Miz. Money In The Bank is up next and it’s unquestionably WWE’s most successful PPV that’s not one of ‘The Big 4’, so I’d expect viewership to rise as we get closer to that. Right now, the stench of Backlash is still lingering.
