WWE News: Memorial Day RAW Draws 2nd Lowest Viewership In Show’s History
It’s no secret that the WWE usually hits a bit of a lull following WrestleMania time in late-March/early-April. The company’s storylines annually slow down in the months of May and June before ramping back up heading into WWE’s yearly summer spectacular, SummerSlam, in August.
With this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW falling on Memorial Day, the viewership numbers are in and to say they’re brutal may be an understatement. The red brand drew 2.494 million viewers this week, a decrease from the 2.668 that last week’s episode pulled in. This is a new low for 2018 and is also the second-lowest viewership in RAW history on a night they were opposed by a game seven in the NBA’s Western Conference Finals.
Back on September 26th, 2016, RAW drew its worst rating in history when it was opposed by a Presidential debate and Monday Night Football, garnering the episode a 2.478. This week’s RAW finished at number four in the overall viewership on cable, but only ranked at number five in the 18-49 demographic (which was also won by the NBA Playoffs).

EA’s Take: I’m sure a lot of curmudgeons are saying, “See! The product sucks and it’s reflected in the ratings!”, but I would disagree with that sentiment. I think this week was just the perfect (or un-perfect if you’re WWE) blend of factors that led to the poor rating. Your top draw, Roman Reigns, is on a vacation and missed the show, but I think most of this just boils down to the competition. Personally, if it wasn’t my job then I may have well skipped out on RAW and watched Warriors/Rockets…and I’m a Celtics fan! Plus, it was a holiday too and I’m sure a lot of people were recovering from family time/alcohol time/whatever floats your boat time. It’s not like these poor ratings are huge differences from other weeks either.
