WWE News: WWE Files Trademark For Signature WCW Event Name
PWInsider is reporting that WWE filed a trademark for The Great American Bash back on April 27th.
The event was originally a Jim Crockett Ptomotions event back in 1988, created by WWE Hall Of Famer Dusty Rhodes. Ted Turner and WCW took hold of the name when they purchased JCP in 1988 to use for their annual late early summer pay-per-view. WWE then reprised the name for their own PPVs, but then shortened it to simply The Bash in 2009 before doing away with it altogether. The last time WWE used the name was for a special episode of SmackDown back in 2012.
