Whether you love him or whether you hate him, any objective person can’t deny that WWE’s most polarizing Superstar (as Michael Cole states seemingly every Monday night) is Roman Reigns. After unsuccessfully challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34 and the Greatest Royal Rumble, in addition to a string of questionable booking decisions in the eyes of the fans, members of the WWE Universe are left stumped with the direction of ‘The Big Dog’.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is attempting to recreate the infamous Daniel Bryan vs. The Authority storyline that vaulted Bryan’s career from 2013-2014. Meltzer says that the plan is to make it appear as if the company is putting the screws to Roman, all while favoring Brock. Additionally, Meltzer would comment that WWE is running with the idea, regardless of the fans buying into it or not.

EA’s Take: Oh, Meltzer. It’s so hard to believe what he says sometimes, but I can see some truth in this. There’s no question people are over Lesnar as the champion and even those that don’t care for Roman are willing to live with him being the man to unseat ‘The Beast’. “Anyone, but you, Brock”, seems to be the sentiment. The part I find hard to believe is the “Bryan push”, if you want to call it that. For Meltzer to try and compare it to Bryan’s rise almost screams of “attention seeking” and trying to rile up the anti-Reigns people. We all know that the crowd wouldn’t buy such a thing and I don’t know how Jinder Mahal costing Reigns a spot in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match on RAW could be construed as WWE “screwing” Roman. If anything, it was the opposite because Jinder lobbied earlier in the show to take Roman’s spot in the Triple Threat qualifier, which GM Kurt Angle refused to do. That sounds like the opposite of the company trying to hose ‘The Big Dog’, but then again, this is “WWE Logic” we’re talking.
