WWE News: CM Punk Tears Up During Day Four Of Defamation Lawsuit Trial

As has been noted, the trial in the lawsuit of WWE Doctor Chris Amann vs. former Superstars CM Punk and Colt Cabana got underway this week, yesterday marking day four of the trial. Of course, we all know Amann is suing Punk and Cabana for the 2014 interview on Colt’s The Art Of Wrestling Podcast in which Punk took the WWE medical staff to task after his departure earlier in the year for allegedly mistreating injuries.

During yesterday’s proceedings, Punk took the stand in his own defense and began to tear up while discussing the 2014 Royal Rumble, the final WWE event he participated in before quitting. According to Gregory Pratt of The Chicago Tribune, Punk spoke about how bitter he was at the time due to wrestling engulfing his life. He would add to jurors that his appearance on The Art Of Wrestling was so he could be open and honest with fans about how his departure from WWE went down, stating that the conversation was just “two friends talking”.

The former WWE Champion would go on to add that his health was not up to par in 2013 and 2014, stating he suffered from dizziness, headaches, nausea and sleeplessness. He was quoted as saying, “I’m sure I wasn’t fun to be around”. As the topic moved on to the 2014 Royal Rumble, Punk was moved to tears and said that at that time his judgment was “poor”. The proceedings were then put to a recess to allow Punk to regain his composure.

Once everything commenced, things would finish up with Punk discussing text messages to his wife, April Brooks (AJ Lee), where the alleged staph infection on his back was discussed. Cabana also confirmed said lump earlier in the day, calling it “disgusting, discolored and raised”.

EA’s Take: I’ve had negative feelings about Punk for some time now, which is unfortunate because I was a pretty big fan of his. I just don’t care for how he treats people, whether it be his so-called “friends” or fans…you know, the people who made it possible for him to live the life he’s living. It’s nice to see that there is some regret there on his part, if he’s in-fact being a real person here and not putting on some kind of act. Honestly, who knows with this guy anymore? I don’t doubt that he was in a dark place when he left WWE, but you’ll have to excuse me for being a little skeptical about a guy who’s notorious for being a feminine hygiene product.
