WWE News: Jury Rules In Favor Of CM Punk & Colt Cabana In Defamation Lawsuit

Today marked the final day of proceedings in the defamation lawsuit trial by WWE Doctor Chris Amann against former WWE Superstars CM Punk and Colt Cabana stemming from a 2014 episode of Cabana’s The Art Of Wrestling Podcast.  The trial that began last week brought to light guilt felt by Punk as he shed tears when speaking about his WWE departure (which you can check out here), as well as the fact that he had lied about getting MRSA due to the WWE medical staff.

The closing arguments were made by the prosecution (Amann) and the defense (Punk/Cabana) before it went to jury for a verdict, who have ruled in favor of Punk and Cabana on all counts. While Dr. Amann will not be receiving the $3.989 million in damages he was seeking, Punk and Cabana will also not be receiving damages either.

The jury has ruled in favor of CM Punk & Colt Cabana in the defamation case filed by Dr. Christopher Amann – no damages awarded to either side. We will be discussing this on the show tonight.

EA’s Take: To paraphrase Big Dave from the Attitude Of Aggression Podcast, if you’ve got no proof then you’ve got nothing. Amann was seeking an absurd amount of money to begin with, but he never presented any hard evidence to show that Punk’s words on Cabana’s podcast directly affected future revenue or dealings. How in the Hell can you prove something like that unless a deal that was on the table before the podcast was released was then taken off the table after? The burden of proof has always been on Amann and he couldn’t pull through. Now that this is cleared up, we can finally get to the WWE return rumors (sarcasm)!
