WWE Rumors: Reported Details On Ronda Rousey’s RAW Commentary Last Week

If you missed last week’s episode of WWE’s Monday Night RAW (you can check out Mitchell’s Live Report here), the challenger for Nia Jax’s RAW Women’s Championship at Money In The Bank this Sunday, Ronda Rousey, joined commentary as ‘The Irresistible Force’ was in action against Natalya.

While joining Michael Cole, Corey Graves and David Otunga, ‘Rowdy’ Ronda had answered a line of questioning by Michael Cole with the comment, “Ripe for the picking is something only my husband calls me”, on a couple of occasions. The remark would be picked apart by fans, especially on social media, most people taking Rousey to task for her overall performance at the same time.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the awkward nature of Rousey was due to the line being scripted, which seemed to make her uncomfortable and give a “stand-offish” like attitude. It’s being said that some backstage felt that giving Ronda a scripted line such as that was ultimately a bad call.

EA’s Take: I can actually subscribe to what Meltzer’s saying here. It’s not exactly a secret that speaking isn’t her strong point, so it’s not a reach for me to imagine there’s been a heavy hand in anything that comes out of her mouth on-screen. Hell, it’s been that way with just about everyone else for some time now it seems. To play devil’s advocate though, what she said came off very awkward, so perhaps someone has fed Meltz some false information to take the heat off of Rousey. As Kevin Garnett said, “Anything is possible!”.
