WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar remains a hot button topic among members of the WWE Universe, even here at The Chairshot with multiple opinion articles being written about ‘The Beast Incarnate’. Many fans have grown tired of his year-plus title reign with minimal appearances and defenses, clamoring for the day when it will come to an end.

With recent reports stating Lesnar will not be competing again until SummerSlam on August 19th (check that story out here) and Brock’s future with the company seemingly up in the air (find that here), a lot of people believe that will be the day the championship changes hands. This has led to a ton of speculation on who the next titleholder will be.

Some outlets began reporting that current Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins was pegged as the next Universal Champion, meanwhile others have claimed Braun Strowman to be the next man up. Today, Dave Meltzer speculated on The Wrestling Observer that the plan for SummerSlam could be yet another Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar match, however others are now misinterpreting it as Meltzer stating it is a fact.

Of course, right now nothing has been confirmed.

EA’s Take: Here’s a classic example of what’s wrong with not just wrestling news today, but news in general. Everyone just needs (sarcasm) to be the first to report something as opposed to waiting to be correct and it legitimately makes me want to rip my hair out. However, I’m in my 30’s now, so who knows how much longer I may have it. I digress. We’re in wait-and-see mode right now everyone and to be honest, I’m not ruling out the possibility that Brock Lesnar’s staying with WWE and retains the damn thing. In the words of Aaron Rodgers, “R-E-L-A-X”.
