5. His first WWE Title win

Austin’s coronation as the new face of the company would finally come at WrestleMania 14 in what many people see as the beginning of the Attitude Era. He and Shawn Micheals put together a better match than they should have been able to considering the shape of Micheals back at the time. With JR’s classic call on commentary “The Austin Era has begun” and it truly had.You could truly feel a change in the direction of the company.

The addition of Mike Tyson gave the company some mainstream attention it needed, and it lead to a cornerstone of the attitude era.

4. The Beginning of his Feud with Mr McMahon

The following night on RAW Austin made it clear that he was not going to fall into Vince McMahon’s idea of what a champion should be. He was going to do what he wanted when he wanted. Thus, the Austin McMahon feud was born which would provide many memorable moments. A storyline that many at the time could relate to of the blue collar worker vs the evil rich boss.

Also, for better or worse it would inspire countless imitations of the wrestler vs the authority figure storylines. Vince would feud with other wrestlers, but none captured the same magic as his feud with Austin.
