WCW Monday Nitro

A look at the ninth episode of WCW Monday Nitro, from The Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio, on October 20, 1995!

Now we jump into WCW during the fallout after Halloween Havoc 1995. We are promised recap of the night before, but we jump right into the action.

Sgt. Craig Pittman vs Eddie Guerrero

Pittman takes control early, showcasing a technical advantage. That is quickly countered by Eddie, but a cheap show brings the Sarge back into dominant position. A nice springboard cross body puts Eddie back in the match, but Pittman cuts him off quickly with some power moves. Guerrero finds a quick rollup to pick up the victory. An average match here, nothing too crazy.

Winner: Eddie Guerrero via pinfall

Shark vs Scott Norton

Shark in control early with strikes and a belly to bell suplex. Norton comes back with some clotheslines and a top rope shoulder block followed by a big scoop slam. These two club away outside the ring to a double count out. Yay for non-finishes in matches with some actual stories.

Winner: No contest via double count out

We get a recap of Flair/Sting vs Anderson/Pillman from the night before. Flair turned on Sting and helped Anderson and Pillman beat him down. Tony Schiavone is in the ring as Flair, Arn, and Flyin’ Brian come down to the ring. They announce the fourth member is coming soon.

Sabu vs Disco Inferno

Not a match I ever thought I’d be watching….oh boy. Sabu gets in a few early shots before Disco takes control with some underhanded tactics. Sabu comes back and hits a senton leg drop from the apron to the ring for the pin. After the match, Sabu hits an ugly looking senton to the outside. He brings out a table and sets Disco on it before going for the senton leg drop again but Disco moves. The table didn’t break, ouch.

Winner: Sabu via pinfall

Lex Luger and Meng vs American Males

After a commercial break(because the 1 minute of action warranted it), the American Males are in control, working over Luger. After a beatdown, Luger puts Bagwell in the Torture Rack for the submission victory.

Winner: Luger and Meng via submission

Now we see footage from Halloween Havoc and the WCW Title Match. Jimmy Hart turns on Hogan, Giant gets Hulk in a Bearhug, Yeti joins him. Luger puts Hogan in the torture rack and the Giant leaves with the belt despite not winning it. The Giant will defend the title that’s not his next week.

What an odd episode. Nothing of real note here, but we move along!

Attitude of Aggression

The Attitude Of Aggression returns for another installment of The Big Four Project, a chronological analysis, review, and discussion about WWE’s Big Four PPVs/ Premium Live Events. On this Episode, the guys cover Survivor Series ’92, an event that saw a radical departure from Survivor Series events of the past. With many top stars having departed the WWE in the Fall of 1992 (or having been fired), the 1992 edition of Survivor Series saw only one traditional Survivor Series match. But it did feature some firsts, such as the first ever televised Coffin Match in PPV history, the first time Mr. Perfect would wrestle a match since Summer Slam ’91, the PPV debuts of Razor Ramon and Yokozuna, and the first of three truly notable battles between Bret “Hitman” Hart and Shawn Michaels. Their match at Survivor Series ’92 was an instant classic and it was so good, that the guys decided to do a watch along here on this Episode! All that plus behind-the-scenes stories and lesser-known factoids the Big Four Project famously delivers time and time again. Join us here for all that and much more on another epic installment of The Big Four Project!

The Attitude Of Aggression returns for another installment of The Big Four Project, a chronological analysis, review, and discussion about WWE’s Big Four PPVs/ Premium Live Events. On this Episode, the guys cover Summer Slam ’92, the first truly massive overseas PPV for the WWE. In the summer of 1992, the WWE traveled to Wembley Stadium in England and delivered an unforgettable event. Headlined by two epic matches, this was the event that truly made Summer Slam feel more like WrestleMania than ever before. One of the Main Events saw the Macho Man, Randy Savage, defend the WWE Championship against the man who had retired him a year earlier, The Ultimate Warrior. The other Main Event saw Bret “Hitman” Hart defend his IC Championship against hometown hero, The British Bulldog. It ended up being one of the greatest IC title matches in history and here, on this Episode, the guys do a watch-along of that phenomenal battle. All that plus behind-the-scenes stories and lesser-known factoids the Big Four Project famously delivers time and time again.
