Former TNA & Ring Of Honor Star Officially Retires From Pro Wrestling

It’s been some weeks now since former TNA star and member of The Motor City Machine Guns alongside Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, has been inside the squared circle. Back in early-June during a Ring Of Honor television taping, Shelley suffered an injury, reported to be a bad concussion and damaged teeth after colliding heads with Frankie Kazarian during a 6-Man Tag Team bout. Shelley was unable to finish the match and had to be helped to the back, later hinting on Twitter that he was contemplating retirement as he began pursuing physical therapy as a career. It was later revealed by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Shelley’s contract with Ring Of Honor had expired.

Shelley took to Twitter over the weekend, announcing that he is officially retiring from in-ring competition as he focuses on school to become a physical therapist:

Alex Shelley broke into the business in 2002, undergoing training with Truth Martini, then later Scott D’Amore and Joe E. Legend. He walks away from the ring at the age of 35 with a load of accomplishments including being a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, one-time ROH World Tag Team Champion, one-time TNA World Tag Team Champion and one-time TNA X-Division Champion.
