‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair Has Successful Surgery, When He’ll Be Released

Just over a week ago now, it was reported that one of the wrestling industry’s all-time greats, two-time WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, would be having another surgery reportedly scheduled for today, July 9th. It was believed that the procedure would be to enable Flair to no longer need the use of a form of colostomy bag (check that story out here). ‘The Nature Boy’ had also previously commented that he had a surgery of that nature upcoming, but did not give details. This of course all stems from Flair’s major health issues last Summer due to his years of alcohol abuse, which was also talked about in the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary, ‘Nature Boy’.

According to ProWrestlingSheet, ‘Naitch’ underwent a successful surgery today which reversed his previous ileostomy procedure, confirming the previous speculation after reportedly speaking with Flair’s fiance, Wendy Barlow.

In medical terms, an ileostomy is a surgical operation in which a piece of the ilium (large, broad bone forming the upper part of each half of the pelvis) is diverted to an artificial opening in the abdomen wall. In layman’s terms, he no longer will need to use the waste bag. The procedure itself is considered to be a small surgery that only lasts roughly 30-60 minutes and most patients are released within 3-5 days. This would line up, as it was also added that ‘Naitch’ is set to be released before the end of the week.
