NJPW News: Kenny Omega Working With A Fractured Heel

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s 28th annual G1 Climax is still in full swing (keep up with everything here), kicking off ten days ago at the Ota City General Gymnasium on July 14th in Tokyo. The reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega, who is in the G1’s B-Block, revealed on the latest edition of Being The Elite that he’s been toughing it out through an injury, indicating that he may have a fracture in his foot:

“I still haven’t recovered from San Francisco. It’s nothing major, it will heal. My heel, my actual heel is suspected to be fractured a little bit slightly. It’s been very painful, it’s very difficult to walk. It’s highly padded through the matches and adrenaline gets me through it.”

The injury in question was suffered at NJPW’s G1 Special in San Francisco back on July 7th in which Omega successfully defended his title against Cody in a tremendously physical main event match that saw the two Bullet Club members finally make amends with one another. Of course, the moment was short-lived The Bullet Club Firing Squad would make their way out to seemingly celebrate, but instead attacked.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Omega is currently dealing with a small break in his heel. At this time it’s not known when or even if Omega will need to take time off to recuperate.
