NJPW Rumors: Chris Jericho Teases Appearing At G1 Special?

We’re just a mere few hours away from tonight’s next New Japan Pro Wrestling event in the United States, the G1 Special in San Francisco from the famed Cow Palace. With the show airing live on AXS TV and NJPW World, many fans have wondered if IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho could possibly be making an appearance, as he’s not been advertised for a match.

Recently, ‘The Alpha’ appeared on Inside The Ropes and explained that he had been asked to do the show, however he declined. Jericho would state that he felt as if working in the United States would be a “slap in the face to Vince McMahon”, with whom he maintains a great relationship with (check out Jericho’s full comments here).

Following yesterday’s press conference for the G1 Special, ‘Y2J’ replied to a tweet from WrestleZone that said he was not scheduled for the show, leading to speculation that he might pop up as a surprise:

EA’s Take: They probably saw it on TheChairshot.com, Chris, because you were quoted as saying you declined. You have to take anything Jericho does these days at face value however. He also previously said he was finished working with New Japan Pro Wrestling and now, he’s the IWGP Intercontinental Champion. So at this point, I think it would be great buzz for him to show up yet again, but would I be shocked? Not at all.
