WWE News: Injury Update On Ruby Riott

Last Friday at the WWE RAW Live Event in Rapid City, South Dakota, the leader of The Riott Squad, Ruby Riott, was in action against Dana Brooke, coming up short in a loss (for results go here). Unbeknownst to the WWE Universe, Ruby would suffer a left leg injury at the event, first reported by WWE.com last night (check that out here) and did not make any more appearances through the weekend or last night’s RAW in Sioux Falls (check out Mitchell’s Live Report).

It was noted that Ruby had undergone an MRI yesterday morning, however the extent of the damage or nature of the injury had yet to be revealed. Today, WWE has updated their story by announcing that Riott has suffered an MCL sprain, yet no timetable for recovery has been given.

The MCL is one of the major ligaments that helps to stabilize the knee, however a sprain of the MCL, depending on its grade, is often not as serious of an injury as the more commonly heard ACL injury. Should it be a grade one sprain for Ruby, she’d be looking at a recovery time of approximately 2-6 weeks whereas a grade two sprain could be weeks-to-months depending on the individual. Grade two sprains often also include a tear in the MCL, like the grade three that is nearly a complete tear and takes months of rehab.
