SummerSlam Kickoff Results: Mixed Tag Team Match

For weeks now, Rusev and Lana have been tormented by the antics of Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas and Zelina Vega over on SmackDown Live. Despite the best efforts of Aiden English, his attempts to help his Rusev Day cohorts have consistently backfired. So tonight, Rusev and Lana looked to extract revenge in the opening contest of the SummerSlam Kickoff.

The purveyors of the Tranquilo lifestyle did what they do best, using their mind games to try and throw ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ and ‘The Ravishing Russian’ off of their games. While the men got the action started, it was a hot tag to Lana that gave the husband and wife the advantage as the action proceeded. With Lana using her power advantage over Zelina Vega, she was able to maintain control until one minor mistake turned the tables. As Zelina lined Lana up for running knees in the corner, ‘The Ravishing Russian’ thwarted the attack with a roundhouse kick before looking for her version of The Accolade.

Almas was able to create a distraction from the apron after depositing Rusev into the barricade, giving Vega the opening for a roll-up to steal the 1-2-3.
