WWE Furthers Kevin Owens Storyline, Being Replaced At Super Show-Down?
After a tremendous match for the Intercontinental Championship this past Monday on RAW, a dejected Kevin Owens sat down in a chair inside the squared circle and surprised the WWE Universe with two simple words, “I quit”.
While there have been some fans that have wondered if ‘The Prize Fighter’ really is walking away from the company, it should be noted that this is of course all just an angle, as the former Universal Champion recently signed a new five year contract with WWE (check that out here). As for where the storyline is going, that remains to be seen, although there has been some speculation that KO could be headed back to SmackDown Live after taking some time off. Again, that is only speculation at this point.
Meanwhile, Owens had been scheduled to compete at WWE Super Show-Down at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds in Australia on October 6th, teaming with Elias to take on the duo of Bobby Lashley and John Cena. Now, it’s not known if that match will be changed, as WWE has since changed their preview for the bout by teasing that Elias may be on the lookout for a replacement:
Cena teams with Lashley to go head-to-head against KO and Elias at the monumental event on Saturday, Oct. 6, marking the first time that these four Superstars have collectively shared the ring. While Cena and Owens look to reignite their storied rivalry, which culminated in a thrilling three-match series in 2015, Lashley and Elias no doubt have some unfinished business of their own, but how will these teams perform as a unit?
Cena and Lashley share a history as alumni of the Ruthless Aggression Era and are former Survivor Series teammates – they defeated five other Superstars in a Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Elimination Match back in 2006. With Lashley bent on taking care of “unfinished business,” can he and Cena pick up where they left off? As for Owens and Elias, KO revealed on the Aug. 27 edition of Raw that he “quits,” so it remains unknown at this time how that unexpected revelation will affect this scheduled match. Will Elias need to find a replacement?
