Last week’s post-SummerSlam edition of Monday Night RAW saw a fairly big increase in the ratings, jumping up 9.5% from the week previous. Now that we’re further away from SummerSlam, could last night’s episode of the red brand keep its solid ratings?

The numbers for last night’s episode are in and there was a decrease from last week, bringing home a 2.877 rating which is a 7% decrease. Here’s a look at the last four weeks of numbers for Monday Night RAW:

• August 6th: 2.804
• August 13th: 2.825
• August 20th: 3.095
• August 28th: 2.877

While the rating went back down, RAW remained ranked number one in the key 18-49 demographic in the Cable Top 150 Rankings, as well as occupying three of the top five spots:

1. Monday Night RAW (8PM Hour) – USA Network – 1.04
2. Monday Night RAW (9PM Hour) – USA Network – 0.97
3. Love & Hip Hop Hollywood – VH1 – 0.92
4. Monday Night RAW (10PM Hour) – USA Network – 0.89
5. Street Outlaws – Discovery – 0.67

EA’s Take: Just as I suspected last week, the red brand starts coming back down to Earth (or at least around their norm) as we get farther away from SummerSlam. The post-SummerSlam shows have been known to almost be a “reboot” in storylines and have seen NXT call-ups in previous years, so I’m assuming that all played a role in last week’s ratings jump. I still think it’s going to keep getting worse before it gets better as we head into the NFL regular season, but that doesn’t mean there’s reason to panic. Now, the WWE curmudgeons will certainly point to ratings, especially when they get worse, as a means to justify their own narratives. That doesn’t mean anything’s wrong, it just means WWE will be facing some stiffer competition over the next few months. It happens every single year.
