WWE News: Toni Storm Vacates Title After Suffering Injury At NXT UK Tapings *SPOILERS*

As was noted, NXT UK filmed two sets of television tapings this past weekend at Insomnia Gaming Festival in Birmingham, England, featuring the tournament to crown the inaugural NXT UK Women’s Champion.

After making it to the Finals of the tournament, Toni Storm came up short against Rhea Ripley, reportedly suffering an injury during the match as the official threw up the dreaded “X” symbol. While details on what exactly happened to Storm have been scarce, today it has been revealed that Toni has vacated the wXw Women’s Championship due to the injury:

wXw Women’s Champion Toni Storm has sustained an injury last weekend. At this point Toni is awaiting further examination to determine the seriousness of this injury. Toni is thus forced to cancel her appearances with us & PROGRESS in Germany this weekend. Toni said she was ‘heartbroken’ to miss those events. We do wish Toni a full recovery and hope to have her back inside wXw & PROGRESS rings soon.

As the wXw Women’s Championship would be without a defense in well over four months, we have decided to vacate the title. Despite the current insecurity regarding Toni’s situation and despite Toni having been a fantastic champion, we believe other wrestlers have the right to compete for the highest price in this division.

Current #1 contender is Alpha Female who is in line for a title chance this Saturday at wXw FAN 2018 in Oberhausen.

Her opponent will be determined in a 3 Way Dance between Killer Kelly, Kris Wolf and Melanie Gray on Friday at wXw FAN 2018 in Hamburg.

At this time, specifics are still not known, however Storm is still scheduled to face Io Shirai in the Finals of the Mae Young Classic at WWE Evolution on October 28th.
