WWE News: Update On Rowan’s Injury, Set To Have Surgery This Week

Just a mere few hours away from tonight’s new SmackDown Live where The New Day will challenge The Bludgeon Brothers in a No Disqualification match for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles, more details have emerged on the status of Rowan.

As noted, Rowan suffered an unspecified arm injury on Sunday during The Bludgeon Brothers’ match against The New Day and while it had not been confirmed, the belief was that it was a biceps injury. Today, PWInsider has updated the status of Rowan, reporting that he does indeed have a torn bicep and is scheduled to travel to Birmingham, Alabama this week for surgery with Dr. Jeffrey Dugas.

This is now the second time in his career that Rowan has suffered a torn bicep, previously having the same ailment back in June 2015 that also caused him to have surgery until mid-October. While no timetable for his return has yet to be discussed and likely will not take place until after the procedure, the usual recovery time for a torn bicep is 3-4 months with rehabilitation starting around the two month mark.

As for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, this all but confirms that there will be a title change tonight on SmackDown Live. While it’s entirely possible some sort of angle could take place tonight to remove Rowan from the match, as we stated before there have been instances in which a Superstar can work with a torn bicep such as Rey Mysterio back at No Way Out 2008 when he challenged Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship.
