CMLL Coverage

Stuka, Soberano, El Valiente vs. Shocker, Hechicero, Ephesto

Ephesto and Soberano start the match out. Very early in the match, it breaks into chaos with brawling happening outside of the ring. Shocker hits an elbow drop on Soberano for a pin, Ephesto also hits Stuka with a spine buster for the first fall. First Fall: Ephesto pins Stuka with a spinebuster.

The second fall starts with all of them fighting in the ring again. Shocker, Hechicero, and Ephesto are triple teaming everyone from the opposing team. They start trading high spots, and then Soberano hits a hurricanrana and then a dive to the outside. Stuka hits a dive on Shocker for the pin but El Valiente pushes his partner off and steals his pin. Second Fall: El Valiente pins Shocker after Stuka hits a dive.

Third fall starts with Shocker and El Valiente in the ring. Valiente hits a big splash on both Shocker and Hechicero. He goes for another but they both move before he does it. This brings in Soberano and Ephesto. Soberano hits a hurricanrana over the ropes to the outside on Ephesto. Soberano is very fluid and athletic. Stuka then hits a dive on Hechicero. El Valiente goes to do a sit down squash on Shocker. Shocker moves, hits an elbow drop, and then pins him. Third Fall: Shocker pins El Valiente after dodging his move and hitting an elbow drop.

Winners: Shocker, Hechicero, and Ephesto.

Welterweight Championship Title Match: Mephisto (Champion) vs. Titan

These two had an exciting match back in January so let’s see if they can live up to it. They perform some fluid matt wrestling to start, but Titan goes for a frankensteiner that’s countered into a powerbomb. First Fall: Mephisto pins Titan with a powerbomb.

Second fall, starts with a continuation of matt wrestling, trading moves back and forth until very quickly Titan submits Mephisto with a knee bar. Second Fall: Titan submits Mephisto with a knee bar.

Well they got the 1 for 1 falls out of the way so now we’ll probably get the real match. We have some smooth chain wrestling and Titan gets some momentum and hits two straight middle rope dives. The crowds now really into it. Titan goes to the well one too many and goes for a dive off the apron which gets caught for a powerbomb. Mephisto powerbombed him onto the apron. Titan is exhibiting tremendous psychology and selling for a luchador. Mephisto hits a huge muscle buster on Titan that he kicks out of. Mephisto goes for a swanton that misses, Titan goes for the pin but he kicks out.

Titan goes for a moonsault but Mephisto gets the feet up. He goes for the cover too but Titan kicks out. Beautiful spot, Titan is on the apron. Mephisto goes for a baseball slide but then Titan jumps up for an Asai moonsault and as Mephisto lands on the outside he gets hit with the moonsault. Flawless execution. Mephisto is seated on the turnbuckle and he goes for a hurricanrana that’s reversed into a powerbomb but then mid air Titan reverses it into a frankensteiner. Beauitful. Titan gets him in a modified figure four but Mephisto gets to the ropes. Mephisto catches him in some kind of standing guillotine then sits down on it for the win. Third Fall: Mephisto submits Titan with a modified guillotine.

Winner: Mephisto

I’d definitely nominate that for top 5 match of the week.

Mistico, Atlantis, Volador Jr. vs. Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, and Rey Bucanero

Mr. Niebla just fell off the turnbuckle trying to pose. The camera cut quick. I don’t know if he’s in the right state of mind. They’re brawling in the ring. Negro Casas pins Volador really fast. Rey Bucanero submits Atlantis really quick too. First Fall: Rey Bucanero submits Atlantis with a cross face.

Second fall starts and Volador is being double teamed. Niebla slaps him really hard twice. The Volador just pulls his mask off and walks out. Second Fall: Volador Dqs himself by unmasking Mr. Niebla.

Winners: Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, and Rey Bucanero.

The story coming out of that match was Niebla was really messed up. News also coming out of it is that he’s off the anniversary show. I don’t know why they’d send him out there if he was messed up, seems unfair to the fans.
