Rumor Killer On Vince McMahon Meeting With MSG Officials

Despite there being months left before next April’s Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden, there’s certainly been no shortage of anticipation for it or talk surrounding the event.

Recently, a rumor has been floating around some sites and on social media that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has scheduled a meeting with officials for Madison Square Garden, the host of the G1 Supercard, with the feeling that he is looking to get the show cancelled. Of course, WWE initially blocked ROH from using the venue (find that story here).

While the rumor was hardly believable to begin with, PWInsider has confirmed today through a “very high up” source with Madison Square Garden that there is absolutely no truth to it. It’s being said by the source that there have been no meetings with McMahon and nothing scheduled, commenting that any communication between the venue and WWE is done through the Live Event department.

With regards to Vince trying to squash the G1 Supercard, there is a contract in place and tickets for the show are already sold out (or nearly). Therefore, there is no way McMahon would be able to prevent the event from taking place at this point.
