We’ve seen a slow decrease in the rating for WWE’s Monday Night RAW since the post-SummerSlam episode on August 20th and with college football on the air this past Monday, could the red brand maintain this week?

The numbers are in for the September 3rd edition of the red brand and this week’s RAW clocks in with a 2.872 rating, a .17% decrease from last week. Here’s a look at the last four weeks of ratings for Monday Night RAW:

• August 13th: 2.825
• August 20th: 3.095
• August 28th: 2.877
• September 3rd: 2.872

Despite RAW’s viewership going downward the past couple of weeks, the red brand had been able to keep its number one spot in the crucial 18-49 demographic. However, that is no longer the case as Monday Night RAW was bumped down to the number three position in the Cable Top 150 Rankings:

1. College Football/Virginia Tech vs. Florida State – ESPN – 1.87
2. College Football Regular Season ESPN – 1.44
3. Monday Night RAW (9PM Hour) – USA Network – 1.00
4. Love & Hip Hop Hollywood – VH1 – 0.99
5. Monday Night RAW (10PM Hour) – 0.97

EA’s Take: I’ve been saying it for a few weeks now, but all it took was some football to knock Mondy Night RAW down a couple of pegs in the top five. Granted, they were still at spots 3, 5 and 6, plus it’s only a .04 difference in the 18-49 demo from last week’s highest ranked hour. Although, I was referring more to the NFL and not the NCAA, therefore next week with two Monday Night Football games in the NFL regular season will be the real test. As far as the ratings go, there was very little affect so I think the decreases have more to do with the storylines than football. I found this week’s RAW to not be the most stellar of efforts, although like most fans I enjoy when you bring back a couple of legends. Let’s face it, there’s probably not much of a coincidence that the program hits a lull just after SummerSlam every year.
