WWE News: Kevin Owens Undergoes Two Knee Surgeries

As has been noted, the angle last week on Monday Night RAW that saw Bobby Lashley turn heel and viciously attack Kevin Owens, taking him out at the legs, was done in order to not only turn Lashley, but to write Owens off of television (see that story here).

We learned that ‘The Prize Fighter’ was in need of knee surgery and had been working hurt for some time. While early reports stated Owens was only expected to miss a short amount of time, it was later noted that the thought was he could be out for 4-8 months as the extent of his injury wouldn’t be fully known until the procedure (check that out here).

At this point there is still no timetable for Owens’ return and no specifics on the exact nature of his injury, we got a rare occurrence today from Owens himself as he provided the following update:

The former Universal Champion very rarely speaks on social media anymore, as this is his first tweet since October 5th, which are the only two tweets on his account since he deleted everything earlier this year.

EA’s Take: I’ve always been a big proponent for KO and will still argue that he’s the most well-rounded performer in the entire company. Objectively though, absence makes the heart grow fonder and no matter how long he’s out of action for, I could see him coming back hotter than he’s ever been…if booked correctly. That last bit is always the real caveat, isn’t it? Regardless, I see this as an opportunity for WWE to do with him what they should have done when he “quit” not too long ago and was only gone for a week.
