WWE News: Shane McMahon Adds Stipulation To World Cup For SmackDown

Tonight’s SmackDown Live wrapped up television for the WWE’s main roster this week before they make the trek to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for Friday’s Crown Jewel.

Tonight’s show featured a main event of all the SmackDown Live Superstars who will compete in the World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel, as The Miz and Randy Orton teamed up to face Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy. However, earlier in the night SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon had all four Superstars in his office with each offering up why they would be the winner of the World Cup. Unfortunately for them, Shane had some news regarding that.

Shane would remind all four men of his rivalry with RAW Commissioner and his sister, Stephanie McMahon, driving home how badly he wants SmackDown Live to take home the trophy leading into Survivor Series. Therefore, whoever makes it to the Finals had better come out victorious according to Shane because if they lose, they will be fired from SmackDown Live.

EA’s Take: I am not sure what exactly is the thought process behind having Shane add this stipulation other than possibly to build for something at Survivor Series. Initially I thought, “Someone from SmackDown is definitely going to win”. They wouldn’t…no, they couldn’t possibly take another top star from the blue brand and move him to RAW could they? Well, of course they could AND would. I just don’t think that will be the case here. I am picturing a SmackDown Live Superstar winning the World Cup (since I’ve already predicted Mysterio, I’ll stick with that) and then RAW winning at Survivor Series to even things out.
