WWE News: SmackDown Tag Title Rematch Announced For Crown Jewel

In case you’ve missed it, the status of WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is once again very much in doubt after multiple reports broke today (see the latest here).

Despite this, tonight’s SmackDown Live proceeded on as if the event will take place as scheduled and after being defeated for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles last week, The New Day kicked off the show. Kofi, Xavier and Big E would address Big Show’s surprising turn on them last week, which ended up costing them the titles to The Bar, then laid out a challenge for whoever of the three wanted to step up.

This would bring out the new champions Sheamus and Cesaro along with Big Show, who after some mind games would take the ring to face off with Kingston. Being vastly undersized against ‘The World’s Largest Athlete’, Kofi came right out of the gate trying to use his speed, but it wasn’t long before Big Show got a hold of him. Multiple Chokeslams later and it was apparent that Big Show was out to injure Kofi, bringing in Woods and Big E. The Bar would even the odds and while the match was thrown out, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions and Big Show would stand tall after leaving New Day laying.

Regardless of how their luck was tonight, it was announced that The New Day would get their chance at reclaiming the titles, as they will face The Bar at Crown Jewel on November 2nd.
