WWE News: Tye Dillinger’s Injury Legitimate, Already Set For Surgery

Earlier today, it was noted that United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura was scheduled to defend his title on tonight’s SmackDown Live against ‘The Perfect 10’ Tye Dillinger, a match Dillinger missed out on a few weeks back after a surprise attack by Randy Orton.

However, just prior to SmackDown Live going on the air, WWE announced that the match had been cancelled after Tye suffered a hand injury at last night’s Live Event in Macon when he faced off against Shelton Benjamin:

After SmackDown Live opened this evening with the WWE Championship Match that had been scheduled for Crown Jewel between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan that last nearly the first hour of the broadcast, there was some speculation that perhaps Dillinger’s injury was just storyline in order to make more time for Bryan vs. Styles eventhough Nakamura vs. R-Truth was added. We now know that unfortunately for Tye, that’s not the case.

PWInsider is reporting that Dillinger is in fact injured, as they are confirming that he is currently in Birmingham, Alabama to have surgery on his hand. However, there are no other details regarding the specifics of the injury or a timetable for his return.
