Is Dominik Dijakovic Set For A Big Push?

Dominik Dijakovik, the former Donovan Dijak, is set for a big re-debut on NXT television. Is he going to get a big push to go with it?

An overall uneventful episode of NXT this week with matches taped at a live event from San Jose State University. The matches were entertaining but it felt like we were just waiting for next week. One thing that intrigued me was a vignette for Dominik Dijakovic. Shot in black and white making him look very imposing which has me thinking he is set for a push in NXT.

The former Donovan Dijak signed with NXT late last year. Weirdly he didn’t get the same “Look who’s in the front row at Takeover!” treatment. He just appeared randomly on TV.

He’s had two matches on NXT TV. Both of them losing efforts to the likes of Ricochet and Velveteen Dream. Similar to how Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly first appeared losing to Aleister Black before re-debuting as part of the Undisputed Era.Looks like they’re just going to forget about his previous appearances.

It’s not hard to see why Dijakovic would be getting a push. Standing at 6’7″ he not only has the size and power WWE often looks for but also has the athleticism. He managed to hit a moonsault in his match with Ricochet (forget the fact that Ricochet moved and he nearly landed on his head). Also his feast your eyes finisher of a burning hammer into the knee strike looks deadly.

Someone who was heavily touted before he came to WWE in company’s like PWG and ROH. He won the ROH’s top prospects tournament in 2016 and had a match with Keith Lee in PWG that I believe Meltzer rated 5 stars. Only time will tell if those two will have a match of similar quality in NXT.

Not knowing too much about Dijakovic I’m not sure how good he is on the mic. If he struggles in that department it could hinder his push. He didn’t talk much in his vignette so it’s hard to tell. Maybe this was intentional have him say very little while he works on his promo ability. The old adage of hide the weaknesses extenuate the positives.

It’s too early to say how far he will go but I can see him as a contender for the NXT North American Championship. I remember when the Undisputed Era debuted I knew he was signed and thought he would make a great addition to the group. He could have been the muscle of the group.

I’m probably getting ahead of myself by assuming he’s getting a push but WWE rarely do vignettes for someone debuting unless they have something big planned for them when they arrive. It’s not like he isn’t deserving of push cause as we saw in his previous appearances he can go in the ring.

He isn’t like most  lumbering big men who  come in and immediately get pushed in WWE. He feels more like a Triple H big man than a Vince big man. Triple H’s big men are the likes of Kieth Lee and Dijakovic whereas Vince’s big men are the Great Khali.
