NJPW News: Tetsuya Naito Says He Turned Down WWE Offer This Year

Over the past handful of years, the WWE has brought in a number of Superstars from Japan as the company has really put much more effort into searching the globe for more talent.

The likes of Asuka, Kairi Sane, Io Shirai, Shinsuke Nakamura and even American talents like AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson all made their way to the WWE via Japan with the company certainly now more aware than ever of the kind of performers working for the likes of New Japan Pro Wrestling. However, it looks like one current top star actually turned down an offer to make the jump to the WWE earlier this year.

While speaking with Tokyo Sports, Tetsuya Naito revealed that he declined an offer, stating that he “didn’t even give it a thought” as translated by Chris Charlton via Twitter:

‘You should understand that I have no interest in “WWE Superstar” Chris Jericho. What I want to do is get revenge for what happened in a New Japan ring, in a New Japan ring’

NJPW’s Dominion was back on June 9th, meaning that WWE reached out this Summer. Of course, this also comes as NJPW is on the verge of possibly losing a number of stars with expiring contracts like IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks and Hangman Page (who work with NJPW through their relationship with Ring Of Honor).
