Rumor Killer On Seth Rollins’ Stomp Being Banned Again
There are rumors that WWE has once again banned Seth Rollins’ Stomp!
If you missed out on last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW (catch up with Mitchell’s Live Report), some fans will tell you that you didn’t miss much, but there were still a couple of segments from the broadcast that were still quality.
One of which was Seth Rollins’ Open Challenge for his Intercontinental Championship, which was met with groans when Dolph Ziggler answered the call as the two have had numerous matches in recent months on pay-per-view and television. However, it turned out to be yet another fantastic effort and what many fans would call the match of the night with little argument. There was one thing the WWE Universe noticed though, which has led to some rumors today.
The finish of the match saw ‘The Architect’ utilize his superplex/falcon arrow combination to score the pinfall and retain, not his usual Stomp finisher which was attempted unsuccessfully on multiple occasions during the contest. There’s now been speculation that perhaps WWE has once again banned the move, which we saw during Seth’s first WWE Title reign where he began using the Pedigree, then later switched to the Ripcord Knee and sometimes a frog splash.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, the Stomp has not been banned again and the company was simply looking to give Seth another way of winning matches, therefore making false finishes better in the future when he uses the superplex/falcon arrow sequence.
EA’s Take: I really do laugh at some of the crazy, nonsensical things that come from fans/the WWE Universe/IWC/whatever other name you have to use. Some things get overanalyzed way too much. Personally, I saw it pretty well exactly how Meltzer said it. The funny thing is, I’ve seen a lot of people complain that Rollins should win a match or two with the superplex/falcon arrow combo. Now the company does it and they have to try and draw a negative out of it instead of just enjoying getting what they asked for.
