Could Ronda Rousey end up on the SmackDown Live roster when the show moves to FOX?

While there’s a good portion of the WWE Universe that will tell you Tuesday night’s SmackDown Live is the superior program to Monday Night RAW, there’s still an undercurrent of excitement with regards to what changes could be coming for the blue brand when it moves to FOX next October.

Previously, we’ve heard that FOX is looking to make SmackDown Live more sports-oriented, moving away from comedy segments and being presented more as an actual sport (read about that here). We also have noted how UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier had an upcoming tryout with the WWE for commentary and also how FOX is involved in that as well due to their previous relationship broadcasting UFC on their networks (for more on Cormier go here).

Today, WrestlingInc is reporting that not only does FOX want those changes, but they also want current RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey on the roster when the show premieres as well. Of course there is the mixed martial arts connection just like with Cormier, but FOX is said to also feel Rousey’s popularity and credibility will be a big selling point for SmackDown Live’s promotion.

EA’s Take: This is almost like saying that any NBA team would want Kevin Durant on their team. It’s seems obvious that FOX would want Ronda, regardless of the changes they want for the show or not, solely based off of her drawing power. FOX has been out of the wrestling game for a long time, so I don’t blame them for wanting people around they’re familiar with, including Cormier. The only thing is, does WWE go so far as to put Ronda on the blue brand? I think they do and my prediction is that we will actually start seeing SmackDown Live treated like it should be next October.
