WWE News: New WWE Champion Crowned Tonight On SmackDown Live
The WWE Championship changed hands tonight on SmackDown Live!
Following the announcement that Becky Lynch is officially out of Sunday’s Survivor Series (see that here), WWE Champion AJ Styles made his way to the ring on SmackDown Live to address his upcoming match against Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.
‘The Phenomenal One’ spoke about coming up short against Lesnar last year and how he has prepared this time around, leading to an unwelcome interruption from Brock’s advocate, Paul Heyman. Paul would antagonize Styles and claim that AJ barely got by Daniel Bryan. This would bring Bryan out to the ring and eventually, the tensions turned away from Heyman, boiling instead between the champion and Daniel.
The two couldn’t contain their tempers and a brawl broke out that was a struggle for officials to break apart, even spilling over into Commissioner Shane McMahon’s office backstage. With so much chaos going on, Shane finally decided the two would meet again tonight with the title on the line, Daniel giving up his spot on Team SmackDown in the process.
Just as we saw two weeks back on SmackDown Live, Styles and Bryan again left it all out in the ring with another epic confrontation. However, this time we got a different result as neither man was able to get a tap out win. As Styles set up for the Phenomenal Forearm, Bryan would duck, causing the official to get bumped instead. Daniel would then shockingly use a low blow followed by a running knee to win the championship. After the match, he would show his true colors and viciously assault Styles. Additionally, that means Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will now face Bryan this Sunday at Survivor Series.

WWE Using AI for Creative Analytics, But Critics Warn of Limits
TKO president Mark Shapiro confirmed the company is employing artificial intelligence as part of WWE’s creative and analytics process, using it to gauge which superstars resonate, where they connect with fans, and to inform content, touring and revenue decisions. Shapiro framed AI as a tool to help map editorial and creative strategies, though he did not specify the scope or specific systems being used.
Industry critics caution that commercially available large language models have significant limitations — they’re trained on existing internet data, prone to hallucinations, and often fail to produce genuinely new creative ideas. Studies also cast doubt on large productivity gains from AI and raise concerns about over-reliance on automated analysis driving billion-dollar booking decisions, with commentators warning that unchecked use could skew creative outcomes and require rigorous human verification.

WWE NXT Promo Draws Backlash Over Alleged AI Use
TKO president Mark Shapiro recently confirmed that Nick Khan and Triple H have incorporated AI into WWE’s creative process, and wrestling fans are now spotting the technology in vignettes and promo packages. An earlier El Grande Americano clip raised eyebrows last year, but this week’s NXT vignette allegedly featuring Sol Ruca and Zaria has prompted even stronger accusations that AI is being used in broadcast production.
Viewers highlighted uncanny-valley close-ups and likeness issues—most notably that Sol Ruca’s on-screen appearance didn’t match her real-life features—as signs the segment may have been AI-generated. Social media backlash suggests many fans feel WWE is rushing AI into television content before the tech can convincingly replicate talent.
