IMPACT News: Was There Interest To Sell To All Elite Wrestling ?
There has been much chatter in regards to IMPACT moving to Pursuit. (You can read the latest HERE) An interesting piece of news regarding the move came out today in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. According to Dave Meltzer, there were people inside of the IMPACT organization that wanted the company sold to All Elite Wrestling, however, officials turned down the idea.
Jason’s Take
It was very disappointing to see IMPACT end up on Pursuit. My hope was they would end up on WGN as it was long rumored that was the direction that was happening. IMPACT is a damaged brand, so I don’t really see where there would have been interest from the All Elite Wrestling side. However, IMPACT still has some very talented stars on the roster, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see AEW having a working relationship with not only IMPACT, but other various promotions throughout the United States and Japan. Starting from scratch will not hurt AEW. The key to their success will be their distribution, whether they go with an online model or find a television network.
