NJPW News: Hiroshi Tanahashi Announces He Has Re-Signed With New Japan
Hiroshi Tanahashi has signed a new deal with NJPW!
New Japan Pro Wrestling’s next event is annually the company’s biggest, as they head to the Tokyo Dome next Friday, January 4th for Wrestle Kingdom 13 (check out the full card here).
Of course, the main event will see Hiroshi Tanahashi get his shot at Kenny Omega’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship, which he earned after winning the G1 Climax for the third time in his career. With so much speculation surrounding the future of Omega and other members of The Elite, Tanahashi recently revealed his own plans via Twitter, announcing that he has re-signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling:

Translation: New Japan Pro Wrestling and contract renewal. I will do my best next year! #njpw
The 42-year old, 19-year veteran has spent the vast majority of his career with New Japan Pro Wrestling, accruing nearly every title that the promotion has to offer including the IWGP Intercontinental Title twice and the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on seven occasions. At recent events, his opportunity against Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 13 was up for grabs after nominating Kazuchika Okada and ‘Switchblade’ Jay White as challengers. Of course, both failed to win.
