WWE Rumors: Speculation On How New Women’s Tag Titles Will Be Used
How will WWE use their new Women’s Tag Team Titles?
In case you missed it, last week’s episode of RAW (review the full show with Mitchell’s Live Report) saw a segment with Vince McMahon dressed as Santa Claus to gift the WWE Universe some things for Christmas, including the highly sought new Women’s Tag Team Championships.
While Mr. McMahon didn’t give any details on the new titles other than informing us that they are on the way in 2019, this has led to a lot of discussion by the WWE Universe surrounding how the company plans to use them. Of course with RAW and SmackDown Live having separate rosters and their own sets of champions, one of the main questions has been if we will be getting two sets of Women’s Tag Titles as well.
Recently on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez addressed some of this talk by reporting that WWE has only ordered one set of Women’s Tag Team Championships, indicating that whoever holds the titles will work on both RAW and SmackDown Live.
EA’s Take: I’m pretty sure I’m in the minority here, but I don’t want Women’s Tag Titles at all. Therefore, I certainly don’t want or think WWE needs RAW and SmackDown Live to each have their own Women’s Tag Titles. I don’t think either division could support it on their own, so I actually like the idea of the champions working both shows, something I initially called for with the WWE Title, Women’s Title and Tag Titles when WWE instituted the brand split again. The only problem now is, since you have two sets of titles for each show, it’s a little weird that these ones would be the only ones that don’t. Although, we’re still pretty early in the process and WWE could just simply change plans and order a second, identical design with different colors.
