AEW Rumors: Loads Of More Notes On AEW, Possible TV Deal, Talents On Their Radar
Tons of notes on All Elite Wrestling!
There’s certainly been no shortage of news regarding the official launch of All Elite Wrestling (see the news here), as we’ve seen the company’s first official signings, roles for Cody and The Young Bucks backstage and much more, with even more on top of that likely to come in the next few weeks/months.
With so many details still yet to be revealed or determined, there’s been a lot of interesting stuff reported today. According to Rajah, AEW President Tony Khan is currently trying to broker a television deal with a network pretty familiar with wrestling, Time Warner, who reportedly would have All Elite Wrestling on either TNT or TBS, the former homes of World Championship Wrestling. Additionally, it’s being said that Khan has put up $100 million for AEW.
If you remember, the initial report about an upcoming new promotion, that has since turned out to be AEW, named Chris Jericho and Jim Ross as the proprietors of the new company. While of course that’s not the case, Rajah also reports that Ross will indeed be involved with a commentary position, but also an unspecified backstage role. As for Jericho, Rajah reports that he will have an “in-depth” role with AEW.
Now as it pertains to acquiring talent, another name we previously heard was involved was renowned agent Barry Bloom, who represents a number of big name talents. One name that has reportedly been brought up is that of Goldberg, as it’s being said AEW will “go hard” after not only current top talents, but legends.
EA’s Take: There’s quite a lot to digest here. Ross being involved in any fashion wouldn’t shock me, but the thing with him is that he’s still under WWE contract. He never was going to come right out and say, “Yeah, I’m involved”. Jericho on the other hand, I’m still not sure about. He’s a wild card really, but even before this report it was looking like he will do something with AEW. I think there’s going to be a lot of “wait-and-see” reports like this until this thing actually gets off the ground.
