Good, Bad, and Ugly: Pre WWE NXT Takeover Phoenix
Headed into WWE NXT Takeover: Phoenix, Bobby Fernandes presents his Good, Bad, and Ugly preview. What checks out as good, and is there any negative here?
NXT Takeovers are just always Good. Every match is like a competition from the last. The product is enjoyable and superior to mostly everything else out there. The writing is Good, the fans are into it. It seems like it is a standard to shine at all times. This card is stacked once again, with a ton of important stipulations that can possibly change the landscape. What do we have here this time?
ALL GOOD!
NXT Championship Match – Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Aleister Black
Aleister Black and Ciampa are going to kill each other. That is it. Both are so physical and will be fueled to top each other’s psychotic minds. I expect complete destruction, leaving it all out there with a definitive victory. Unfortunately for surprise sake, Black may be rearing his head in the Royal Rumble which makes me think he will lose to Ciampa. Prediction: Tommaso Ciampa Wins!
NXT Women’s Championship Match – Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Bianca Belair
Shayna Baszler would be a Perfect rival to Ronda Rousey to take over as the baddest on the planet in the Women’s Division. For that to happen her time has to come to a close and she would really have to both be in the Royal Rumble and Win. Some of that is more likely than others. Belair would be ideal to take over Baszler’s spot, and what better time than Takeover for that to happen. Prediction: Belair Wins!
NXT Tag Team Championship Match – Undisputed Era (c) vs. War Raiders
Match of the Night. We will see the best of the best with Undisputed putting on their usual, flawless show. The War Raiders are fun and seriously talented. The fans will be out of their seats the entire time, and fully drawn in. It can go either way, but no matter who wins it is really the audience that is truly blessed here. Prediction: Undisputed Era Retains.
NXT North American Championship Match – Ricochet (c) vs. Johnny Gargano
Ricochet (when not talking) is simply the best. He does things in that ring better than almost anyone and does things that no one else can do. Johnny Gargano is like a chameleon and can adapt and work just about anyone successfully. He is full of talent and up against someone the caliber of Ricochet, this match is going to be bananas. Expect to pop and no need to sit down. Prediction: Ricochet Wins!
Matt Riddle vs. Kassius Ohno
The weakest match on the card still looks to be a Good one. Hopefully it is short as if it draws out it could take a Bad turn. It would make sense to be short and brutal. If it does that, it will be Great! Prediction: Matt Riddle Wins decisively!
OVERALL – ALL GOOD!
NXT will deliver as they always do and a fantastic, over the top winner. All of the matches are solid as well as the background and buildup.
On paper this looks very Good overall, the action should be plentiful, and I see some changes to the current scene happening this weekend. Expect some of the participants to be seen in the Royal Rumble which will also be a GOOD thing. This weekend is fantastic and an awesome time to be a fan! Enjoy the show!
