How AEW Was Able To Get MJF & Joey Janela, Their Status With MLW

Details on MJF and Joey Janela working with All Elite Wrestling!

Among the new additions to the All Elite Wrestling roster that were revealed during last week’s rally in Jacksonville (watch it again here) were ‘Bad Boy’ Joey Janela and MJF, both of whom have also been working for Major League Wrestling.

This led to speculation by some fans that AEW and MLW were working together in some fashion to make it happen and today, there has been confirmation of that to an degree. According to Fightful, Janela has only ever competed for MLW on a per-appearance basis, meaning he was free to go to any other company. As for MJF though, he is under a two-year contract to the promotion. So how did this happen?

Additionally, Fightful reports that both stars are still “in good standing” with MLW, as the company has had open communication with All Elite Wrestling. As for them signing anything with AEW, it’s been noted by Dave Meltzer that they, along with Penelope Ford, have non-exclusive deals.

EA’s Take: Now this is something that I can get behind. Watching the rally, I could hear the proverbial, “Who?” from the crowd when The Young Bucks said that AEW would be working with Oriental Wrestling Entertainment out of China. This though, is something fans in this country can get excited about because MLW is really making moves. I’m not jumping the gun and saying the two companies are going to have more of a working relationship right off, but those prospects are pretty intriguing and this could be a step in that direction.
