A new report claims Kenny Omega is not re-signing with NJPW!

Following the events of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 13 today and Hiroshi Tanahashi become the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion, there’s already been tons of speculation on the future of the now-former titleholder, Kenny Omega.

Earlier today we noted that it was being reported WWE has already made a “fantastic offer” for Omega’s services (read that story here) and as the day progresses, we’re getting more and more talk surrounding the next step in his career.

According to BodySlam.net, one source has told them that Omega will not be re-signing with New Japan Pro Wrestling, but didn’t indicate what his decision would be. Reportedly, ‘The Cleaner’ could finish up with the promotion as early as this weekend when NJPW holds their New Year Dash event tomorrow. On top of that, it’s also said that a big angle is planned for the show, possibly a “send-off” for Omega much like AJ Styles got before he left for the WWE.

Speaking of the WWE, BodySlam.net also adds that Kenny Omega is scheduled to meet with the company over the next few days with a decision to come by Monday.

EA’s Take: Just as I said this morning, there’s probably going to be a lot of this. It’s really up to interpretation how much of this is true or not, but if Meltzer’s saying Omega is signed until the end of the month, I don’t understand why Omega would finish up this weekend since NJPW has a lot of other shows to finish out January. Again, I really think “wait-and-see” is the best approach here. I will say this though: unless Kenny Omega’s meeting with WWE over the phone or the company has flown somebody out there, how’s he going to meet with them and make a decision by Monday while also being booked tomorrow night? I don’t know, something isn’t adding up here.
