Chairshot Wrestling News Shuffle (2/2/2019)
Start your weekend off with news on Kenny Omega, Brock Lesnar, Priscilla Kelly and more!
Jason shuffles is back with today’s Chairshot Wrestling News Shuffle! A look at Priscilla Kelly’s latest spot, Nia Jax having heat again and more!

Nia Jax or Mike Tyson
Nia Jax delivered the punch heard around the world back in November when she broke Becky Lynchs’ face in half, causing the huge Survivor Series match with Ronda Rousey to be called off. Now, Nia apparently has heat with the locker room, and more specifically R-Truth. During Jerry Lawlers recent podcast, Dinner With The King, Lawler revealed that R-Truth was livid backstage after the attack from Nia Jax during his entrance at #30 at the Royal Rumble. Truth felt that that the attack was a bit excessive. Whether or not the heat is all a work remains to be seen, but Nia does have a history with causing injuries with the Lynch injury, and Zelina Vega injury at the Revolution pay per view
She’s Gonna Puke
Priscilla Kelly is making new again. Last month, Kelly came under fire for a spot where she shove a “used” tampon down an opponents throat. She would speak with the Chairshot about that spot and more in an episode of The Dive, which you can listen to HERE. At a recent indie show in Atlanta, Kelly teamed with Darby Allin to battle Delilah Doom & Eli Everfly in a match that carried all over the bar. The finish of the match involved Kelly seemingly vomiting on Everfly, which allowed Darby to pin him for a three count. This would cause Everfly to vomit as well.
Is Ambrose Leaving A Work?
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has some thought on the Dean Ambrose WWE contract situation. Meltzer feels that Ambrose is legitmaitley leaving, however many wrestling in the locker room feel that it is a work, especially with the way WWE released a statement regarding his contract status. Meltzer would also state that Ambrose is really good friends with both Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes.
Beast Laid To Rest?
Meltzer also had some interesting comments in regards to the WWE status of Brock Lesnar. Meltzer stated that Lesnar may wrap up his time in WWE in 2019 and could head to UFC, or All Elite Wrestling. An AEW possibility is interesting as Jericho Tweeted during the Royal Rumble that “Intimidation and fear goes a LONG way in our business guys. But let’s be honest, @BrockLesnar needs to pull up his pants and lose the gut… the dream is over dude. I don’t play by the script.”
Kenny Omega Is A Free Agent
By all accounts, Kenny Omega is now a free agent has his NJPW contract expired at midnight of 12/1. The speculation now begins as to where he will end up. One event worth keeping an eye on is the AEW All Or Nothing ticket announcement party that will be on February 7th in Las Vegas. AEW is promising more talent announcements and partnerships, so it could be likely we have our first post NJPW Kenny Omega News.
Jason’s Thoughts On Today’s News
Everyone is going to AEW. Dean Ambrose, Brock Lesnar, Darth Vader, The Pope, etc. While AEW does have some solid financial backing, and Dave Meltzer is supposedly in their back pocket, the only most likely signing at this point is Kenny Omega. As I said in yesterday’s news, a lot of the contract and release talk could all be one giant work on AEW’s part to try get WWE in a panic. People want an alternative to WWE, not WWE Lite.
WWE has fumbled the entire run of Nia Jax. She was too green to be moved to the main roster in the first place. She could have been billed as the female version of Brock Lesnar, but now it seems like creative cannot come up with anything relevant for her. Injuries are unfortunate, but I feel that Nia can be money in the right situation. Here is hoping WWE can get her career back on track.
If you haven’t listened to the Dive episode featuring Priscilla Kelly, you need to. She doesn’t care what kind of reaction she incites out of fans, or what WWE’s opinion is of her. She’s trying to have fun with wrestling, and while some of the spots may not be fun for some, it’s entertaining for others.

WWE RAW Ticket Sales Lag in Omaha as Show Heads to CHI Health Center
WWE RAW takes place tonight at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and ticket sales are hovering just under a sellout, with 8,347 of 9,174 tickets sold and roughly 827 remaining — numbers that could be absorbed by walk-up buyers. That figure is well below the promotion’s previous stop in the building (11,606 tickets on 5/5/2025) and the year-to-date Raw average of 11,900, meaning even a full house tonight would still land more than 2,500 seats shy of recent averages.
The show’s announced card features a Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu contract signing for Backlash, the continuation of the Oba Femi Open Challenge, Je’Von Evans & Penta vs. Rusev & Ethan Page, JD McDonagh vs. Finn Bálor, a sit-down between Asuka and IYO SKY ahead of Backlash, and the recent signing of Sol Ruca to Raw. With tonight’s attendance shaping up lower than typical this year, the creative build and walk-up interest will be key factors in turning this into a strong live crowd.
